Chic mother-of-pearl-patterned mahjong tiles adorned with delicate, geometric peacocks, dragonflies, and patterns in rich hues are an homage to an era defined by luxury, glamour, and exuberance. The Charleston in American mahjong is named after the wildly popular fast-paced, rhythmic 1920s dance of the same name, forged in an era when mahjong first became popular in the US. The Art Deco movement, like these tiles, marries luxurious materials and exquisite craftsmanship with a joie de vivre ethos akin to a riotously choreographed game of mahjong.
